Charlayne Hunter-Gault once broke barriers by becoming one of the first African American students to enroll in the University of Georgia. Now she’s hosting Race Matters, a PBS NewsHour program discussing America’s issues in handling racial conflict, diversity and solutions to bring harmony across different communities.

After being chosen for the show, Hunter-Gault said: “I am so pleased that a program with such gravitas as the PBS NewsHour is paying serious attention to America’s most enduring challenge: racism…It is my hope that these conversations will lead to greater understanding and narrowing of the racial divide.” Read more at The Root.
