Rapper, Song writer, Producer, Entreprenuer,  and Fashion designer.

West first became known as a producer for Roc A Fella Records; he achieved recognition for his work on Jay-Z’s ‘BluePrint’ (2001), as well as hits for musical artists including Alicia Keys, Ludacris, and Janet!

Out of Chicago, and began rapping in the third grade. West attended art school for one semester before dropping out to pursue music entirely in the late 1990s. Although his real dream was to become a rapper, record executives did not take West seriously, he was viewed as solely a producer. After being signed to Roc-A-Fella in 2002, West released his debut album The College Drop Out in 2004.  That launched the single “Through the Wire”  written  after a near fatal car accident where he was cut off by a car, ran head-on into traffic, and collided with another car and had to have his jaw wired and his face reconstructed. Two weeks after being admitted to hospital, he recorded the song with his jaw still wired shut. The song’s title refers to the wires used to hold his broken jaw together. The song was a smash and like a story out of a book, this 2nd chance of life would change his career, life and the world.

West is one of the best selling artist of all time, having sold more than 21 million albums and 100 million digital downloads. He has won a total of 21 Grammy Awards, making him one of the most awarded of all time and the most Grammy-awarded artist of his age.

He’s known for controversial statements and actions. He is adored and/or hated by many. He is now a husband to Kim Kardashian and a father, regardless of how anyone feels personally about Kanye West he  still continues to be a huge impact on hip hop and the world.
