One of the classic track from one of the greatest emcees has a back story you need to hear.

The track we are talking about is from The Notorious B.I.G’s 1997 album Life After Death, when Cleveland’s and Brooklyn’s best came together for “Notorious Thugs”. The classic song featuring Bone Thugs-N-Harmony with Biggie Smalls.

Famous artist manager and entrepreneur Steve Lobel was there to see the creation of “Notorious Thugs.” The New York native sat down with producer DJ Mustard to talk about how the classic tune came together.

Lobel reflected on Fat Joe and Sean “Puffy” Combs’ (aka Diddy) playing significant roles in bringing the Biggie and Bone camps together.

He explains that he spoke to Puffy after the record was released, and the Bad Boy founder explained why it took Big so long to add his part. “Puff was like, ‘It took Big a while. He mastered that [flow] and studied it,‘” said Lobel. “That record helped Bone on the East Coast – even though ‘Crossroads’ opened it up for them. But New York was fickle, and no one was really accepting Bone. Bone and Biggie solidified it.

His story also involved Love & Hip Hop Atlanta star Stevie J. producing the beat and the quick recording turn around time on the part of the Bone Thug members.
