BOOM MOMENT IN HIP-HOP

The West Coast began it’s rise to hip-hop power in the early 90’s, with Dr. Dre leading the charge. After his dispute with N.W.A, Dre branched out on his own, and on this date in 1992, and dropped his first solo single, “Deep Cover“. The song is also referred to as “187“, featured up and coming emcee Snoop Dogg.

Though the song didn’t reach a lot of initial commercial success, it was a jumping off point to each of the West Coast legends careers as solo artist, and the first of many classics created by the two. This was the start of the rise of the West Coast and the popular sounds that were generated from Dre and many others from out there during this time in hip-hop as well.
