ibIf you have grown downright weary of the onrush of questions from pressuring pesky parents, meddling friends and curious co-workers about your relationship status or the lack thereof, you can now build a bae to get them all off your back about not having that someone special in your life.

Invisible Boyfriend (or Girlfriend) is an app that will create a botfriend for you to give you real-world and social proof that you are in a relationship with someone.

According to Matthew Homann, co-creator of the app, its intent is to “build something that helps you tell a better story about a relationship you’re not in.”  The cover-for-dating tool comes complete with convincing text messages, photos, handwritten notes and even voicemail messages, all fake but oh so real.  Eventually, Invisible Boyfriend reportedly expects to expand its menu to offer gifts sent to you at work and other real-life services.

Homann thought up of quite a few reasons why anyone would need to conjure up a boyfriend and shared a few with BuzzFeed. “Maybe they’re in a same-sex relationship they’re hiding from disapproving relatives, are trying to avoid the unwelcome advances from a coworker, or have chosen to focus on their work instead of romance,” said Homann.

Users get to build their hot avatar from scratch and this includes picking out a name, age, selecting personality traits, deciding on a look and interests.  They also get to come up with a backstory as to how the romance first sparked.

The fictitious love charade appears when summoned and users are basically made to feel unconditionally cared for and validated—all for a mere $24.99 a month fee, which includes 100 texts, 10 voicemails, and one handwritten note.
