BET Greenlights Season 3 Pick Up For Being Mary Jane

BET is all about Being Mary Jane. Just two days after the Salim and Mara Brock Akil drama starring Gabrielle Union returned for its second season, the network announced it renewed the series for a third season! BET made the announcement via Twitter saying:

 Issa Rae & Larry Wilmore Team Up For Comedy Series

The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl’s creator Issa Rae is finally heading to television. Deadline is reporting Issa and funnyman Larry Wilmore will co-write a comedy series for HBO which Issa will star in. The upcoming project will center on the “awkward” experiences and risque tribulations of a current day black woman. Series mirrors Issa’s hit web series but is going to cable intead. Both Issa and Wilmore will serve as executive producers for the pilot. Get it Issa!

Boris Kodjoe Boards Fox’s ‘Last Man On Earth’

Boris Kodjoe is about to do some moonlighting on BET’s Real Husbands of Hollywood. Kodjoe has just nabbed a role on Fox’s upcoming comedy freshman series, Last Man On Earth. The sitcom centers on Phil Miller (Will Forte) an average joe who is the last person of earth trying to find any other humans in America. According to Variety, Kodjoe’s playing a very secretive role the network is keeping close to the vest, along with how many episodes he will be in. The Last Man On Earth airs March 1 at 9 PM EST on Fox.

 Laverne Cox Joins ‘The Mindy Project’

Laverne Cox is busting out of Lichfield Penitentiary and heading to New York City. The Orange Is The New Black star will appear on an upcoming episode of The Mindy Project. E! News is reporting Laverne will play Tamra’s (Xosha Roquemore) who assists  Dr. Mindy (Mindy Kaling) get a boost in confidence.  If Laverne’s character is anything like her alter ego Sophia, Mindy won’t have any problems getting that pep back in her step! So far Fox hasn’t released Laverne’s airdate.
