Thumbs up to J. Cole on his third studio album, 2014 Forrest Hills Drive. The Fayetteville rapper has sold over 360,000 albums in his first week of sales, exceeding his 2013 album Born Sinner, which sold 296,000 in its first week. According to HitsDailyDouble, J. Cole has surpassed Taylor Swift’s 1989 and set a record with the highest streams for an album’s debut week on Spotify with 15.7 million streams.

Although 2014 may have been a crappy year for hip hop albums, J. Cole certainly impressed us all (well some of us) with this unexpected fourth quarter release.

A few days ago Meek Mill tweeted “I don’t feel these dudes or their albums….Doesn’t inspire me nor motivate me…. All of it just weird 2 me!”. Is he throwing shade at J. Cole or nah?
