Get On Up! Is the name of the new James Brown biopic set to hit theaters in early August. Now of course we are already curious because most of us dont know the story of the Godfather of Soul. But let me tell you that if that doesn’t peak your curiosity the cast definitely will! Starring as JB is Chadwick Boseman, who you should remember from the movie, “42”. Not only does he visually play James to the T (Jill Scott told me that), he also maintains that James Brown raspy voice throughout the movie and he does his own splits!!! Oh and the supporting cast!?!? I’m talkin Dan Aykroyd, Octavia Spencer, Viola Davis, Jill Scott, Craig Robinson and 3 other people I want you to keep a lookout for. They are, Tariq Trotter (who you should know as “The Roots‘ resident MC, “Black Thought“), our girl Jill Scott and an amazing actor named, Nelsan Ellis. Most of us know Nelsan as “Lafayette” in HBO’s True Blood. I have had my eye on him for a few years and he is THE character actor. That means you have probably seen him in other roles and didnt realize it because that’s how great he is. This is a truly great ensemble cast and my mouth watered in anticipation watching this trailer. I hope it does the same for you!
