Recently hired Atlanta Hawks head coach Mike Budenholzer was arrested in Midtown Atlanta last night and charged with driving under the influence. A Georgia State Patrol trooper pulled Budenholzer over around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday on 10th Street at Crescent because the Audi A8 he was driving didn’t have the tail lights on.
The AJC reports that the arresting officer wrote in his report that Budenholzer had bloodshot and watery eyes and smelled like alcohol. The coach admitted to having one glass of wine prior to driving. He was given a field sobriety test and placed under arrest. He refused to take a breath test.
Budenholzer, 44, was charged with DUI and a tail light violation. He was released on $1,524 bond at 3:45 a.m. Thursday.
