Hollywood Actor CLIFTON POWELL known for his roles in films such as Oscar Nominated Ray (with Jaime Foxx), Dead Presidents and Friday After Next is returning to Philadelphia for his Behind The Lenz Actors Bootcamp.
This two-day bootcamp will be held Saturday August 3, 2013 and Sunday August 4, 2013 from 10am-6pm, in Philadelphia. Behind the Lenz is offering two unique workshops specifically design to strengthen your craft.
DAY 1: SATURDAY AUGUST 3, 2013:
Character Development: This fun and dynamic workshop explores a range of approaches to understanding a character in order to make the performance/writing more authentic, truthful and, ultimately, more powerful. You will use modern tools which will allow you to truly get to grips with a character and their motivation, needs and desires.
Scene Study: Focuses on actor’s character development, objectives, subtexts, and scene work. Actors will be assigned scenes and put on tape for review at the end of class.
PLEASE PREPARE A 1-2 MINUTE MEMORIZED MONOLOGUE
DAY 2: SUNDAY AUGUST 4th:
Cold Reading: Will cover essential skills that can be developed and deepened for use in any audition situation whether it’s for film, television, commercial work or theatre. The key component for auditioning when it involves cold reading, is the ability to take apart new material quickly and work on-the-spot to add depth to the character and the scene which is brand new to the actor.
Auditioning Technique: Every actor must be prepared to walk into an audition, deliver an engaging, flawless performance, and maintain professional audition etiquette throughout in order to gain the respect of the casting directors. Students will perform in front of the camera in a real audition setting. Direction and feedback will be given with each performance and students will have the chance to watch their auditions on-screen to get a feel of how they come across to their audience.
