About the Artist:
Philadelphia native Alloyius Mcilwaine has been creating art since he was a child. Vibrant colors, amorphous combinations, intricate shapes and complicated patterns are present in each of his pieces. Alloyius’ work has been featured in his “Spraypaint & Ink Pens” showcase (October 2012), the RAW Artists Presents: DISCOVERY Showcase (February 2013), the Art Above Reality & The Culture LP websites, and most recently on the new R&B DIVAS LA reality show (TV One). Alloyius’ artwork has also been integrated heavily into the designs for his clothing line, Cultures Clothing Company. Alloyius continues to share his unique perspective through his art one paint stroke at a time.
How does a local painter get his artork featured on one of the most anticipated show on TV One?
‘I was actually lucky enough to have a friend who gave me a play. Sometimes it’s good to have friends in high places that believe in you & what you’re doing!’
How exciting is it to see your artwork displayed on national television for millions to view?
‘It’s awesome seeing my work on tv. Every artist wants their work seen and appreciated, and this is giving me a platform to showcase my work in front of millions & millions of viewers.’
Philadelphia, PA – Alloyius Mcilwaine (of Cultures Clothing Co.) will hold his second abstract art showcase, “IMMORTAL”, at Skai Blue Media (109 S 13th St #119a, Philadelphia, PA 19107) on Friday, August 2nd, 2013 from 6:00 PM – 8:30 PM. The paintings from the “Immortal” collection are a window into the soul of the artist in the form of freestyle art. Freestyle art is art that is improvised on the spot…without any predefined concept or idea. The art that is manifested on the canvas is serendipitous in nature, and influenced by the artist’s mood and emotion. The showcase will feature over 30 paintings…created using a combination of spray paint, acrylic, and 3-D (Puffy) paint. The event is open to the community, and will host several special guests, media personalities, and print outlets.
