Oxygen’s series ‘Snapped’ is heading into its 24th season and the show that uncovers the truths behind some of the craziest scandals is tackling the story behind the ‘Long Island Lolita’. Back in 1992, Joey Buttafuoco, his wife Mary Jo, and his mistress, then 17 year-old, Amy Fisher, rose to fame after Amy shot Mary Jo in the face in an attempt to get her out of the picture.

The show reveals the trio became addicted to the fame they received as a result of the scandal and Mary Jo claims she made a lot of mistakes during her quick rise to fame. “I made a lot of mistakes, I tried to do the best I can,” she said. “Nobody told me, ‘Okay Mare, this is what happens when somebody comes to your house and shoots you in the head.’ Everything that was before was then over.”

The premier episode airs Sunday, August 19th at 6PM ET/PT.
