Texas is still recovering from the damage of Hurricane Harvey but, now Florida and Puerto Rico must prepare for category 5 storm, Hurricane Irma.
Hurricane Irma intensified into an extremely dangerous Category 5 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson wind scale.
The hurricane is about 270 miles east of Antigua with winds of 175 mph, said Miami weather forecaster. Currently, Florida and Puerto Rico have declared a state of emergency ahead of the storm.
According to CNN, Governor Rick Scott says that President Trump promised full resources of federal government as Florida prepares for Hurricane Irma.
The NHC stated that it’s too early to forecast the storm’s exact path or what effects it might have on the continental United States, but it’ll likely hit areas later this week.
“There is an increasing chance of seeing some impacts from Irma in the Florida Peninsula and the Florida Keys later this week and this weekend. In addition, rough surf and dangerous marine conditions will begin to affect the southeastern U.S. coast by later this week,” the center said.
The states are preparing for the worst currently, so we are hoping residents take action as soon as possible.
