No matter the team or the record from the previous year, the most optimistic time of an NFL fan’s year is the day the schedule is released. Of course there are some fan base that are a little out of touch when it comes to expectations but that’s the reality fandom.

The 2011 Philadelphia Eagles gave us plenty of optimism with all of the quality additions  to them team but after the season ended many of us were sitting around trying to figure out how they finished 8-8 an not in the playoffs. All that, “no one wanted to face us in playoffs” or “we were the hottest team at the end of the season” talk means nothing.

Taking a look at the 2012 season I refuse to let hype enter into my analysis of the schedule. Let’s get to it.

Over the first four weeks of the 2012 season I feel the Eagles should be able to jump out to a 3-1 start. I have us beating the Ravens in week 2 with a key factor in the game being Ray Rice. If Rice holds out for the max of 10 weeks before signing his franchise tag the Ravens will be in a lot of trouble. I’m hoping even if they move quick we get the Ravens without him on the roster. Our only loss in the first four weeks is to the Giants in week 4.

In the 2nd quarter of the 2012 Philadelphia Eagles schedule I see us with a 2-2 record. This could also be a part of the schedule where we go 1-3. Not only are our opponents great during this stretch but we also face the Lions and Falcons off of bye weeks. And play at Pitt and New Orleans. So 2-2 would be great

The second half of our season starts in week 10 versus the hated Dallas Cowboys. Over the next four weeks we face the Cowboys twice and we’re at the Washington Football Team in week 11 with them coming off a bye. Add the Panthers in the mix and our 3rd quarter is loaded with possible pit falls. I’m taking 2-2 but wouldn’t be surprised if we go 3-1.

Coming down the home stretch I’m very confident that our Philadelphia Eagles will finish strong. I’m thinking 4-0 to end the season with a record of 11-5. Even if we slip up in that second quarter of season and go 1-3 we should finish with a 10-6 record and a wild card spot in the playoffs.

I’m sure you have some thoughts on these predictions so let’s talk about them.
