The adaptation of Kathryn Stockett’s best-selling novel about black maids, The Help, took home three awards last night, including Best Actress for Viola Davis, Best Supporting Actress for Octavia Spencer and Best Acting Ensemble at The Critic’s Choice Awards.

Congrats to the ladies for the win but after sifting through the photos of last night’s event it did make me question, where are all the black people?

And why did the Black people who actually were invited have to be “The Help?”

Granted black actors didn’t exactly light up the silver screen in 2011 but damn Gina, no invite?

George Lucas’ “Red Tails,” hit theaters this week, but the movie is getting more attention for the way Hollywood treated Lucas in producing the film. This films budget came out of pocket because Lucas didn’t want to market it as a “black film.” Are black actors treated differently in Hollywood? If so, Why?
