NFL free agency began with a bang at 4pm eastern on Tuesday, March 13, 2012. In case you’re wondering how you could have missed the great acquisitions the Philadelphia Eagles we’re here to fill you in.

You missed nothing. Well to be fair the Eagles did agree to a contract extension with left guard turned right tackle Todd Herremans.  Outside of that, crickets were making more noise down at the Novacare complex.

The reality of the 2012 free agency class is a lack of quality talent. This group of free agents feels more like an NBA draft where you get two or three quality picks in the first round and then the talent level drops off considerably.

Winners from the first day of free agency included the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with their signing of elite wide receiver Vincent Jackson. The Miami Dolphins picked up draft picks from the Chicago Bears by trading away troubled receiver Brandon Marshall. Wether Marshall is troubled or not, he has a productive playing history Chicago Bears Quarterback, Jay Cutler.

Stepping away from national coverage and focusing in on the tuff NFC East that our Philadelphia Eagles call home, we saw the Washington Football Team acquire former Colts wide receiver Pierre Garçon in an attempt to start putting talent in place for potential rookie quarterback Robert Griffin. I know many Eagles fans want a quality free agent linebacker but if anything it looks like the Eagles may address that need through the draft.

To be honest we made such a splash in free agency last off season that even with these players switching teams I still feel comfortable with our team. Yes we have holes on our squad just like every team in theNFL but I think we’re in good shape.

What do you think?  Let’s talk @Philly_Ron
