The New Jersey Senate approved a same-sex marriage bill yesterday voting 24 to 16, giving same-sex couples the right to marry. For more than two decades same-sex couples have fought for the right to marry in the state of New Jersey, but the fight isn’t over just yet. Supporters are still three votes short of the 27 votes needed to override a promised veto by Gov. Chris Christie. A poll by Rutgers-Eagleton stated that 54 percent of New Jersey voters approve of same-sex marriage, and 35 percent are opposed. Regardless of what the Governor believes, things are sure to change for same-ssex couples in the state of New Jersey.
