When new “it” boy Rotimi showed up to audition for the role of “Dre” on Power, the rising star came prepared with props that helped him seal the deal on what he calls a “role of a generation.”

“I brought a bottle. I brought a cigarette. I brought a wife beater…everything just to get into character. At that point I think that’s what won them over,” he revealed. “I wanted it so bad.”

Rotimi’s passion and determination for the role thrust him ahead of the competition, similar to his character Dre’s rise on the hit show.

“Right now he’s earning his respect with 50’s character Kanan, by putting in work,” he explained. “Anything Kanan says to do, he will do.”

Rotimi and 50 formed such a bond, 50 signed him to his G-Unit label. That’s right, Rotimi does music too! Listen to his song Lotto, featuring 50, here.

Watch Rotimi dish on starring on the Starz series and his character’s growth in the exclusive above video.
