Minnesota Vikings star Adrian Peterson’s appeal to the NFL to lift his suspension for violation of the league’s personal conduct policy was denied. Peterson was placed on suspension after he was arrested and charged with child abuse in Texas of his 4-year-old son. Peterson plead no contest to misdemeanor reckless assault on Nov. 4 after he used a switch on his son for punishment. Soon afterwards on Nov. 18, Peterson was swiftly suspended by the NFL without pay for the remainder of the season. The Associated Press is reporting the running back will continue to be suspended and won’t be eligible for reinstatement until April 15.

Former NFL exec Harold Henderson heard Peterson’s case last week in Washington, D.C. after he was appointed as an arbitrator by the league’s commissioner Roger Goodell to listen to both sides of the case and give a ruling. Henderson upheld the NFL’s decision on Dec. 12 and stated Peterson:

Was afforded all the protections and rights to which he is entitled, and I find no basis to vacate or reduce the discipline.

In an interview with ESPN.com, Peterson questioned the fairness of the ruling on his case versus former Baltimore Ravens Ray Rice. Peterson stated:

I feel like they’re handling the situation absolutely wrong. I think I’ve been made an example out of. It kind of baffles me how — I have nothing but love for Ray Rice, I’m happy he has the chance to play. But it’s like, how did Ray Rice get reinstated before me, a team has a chance to pick him up, but I don’t have the opportunity to come back until April. When has that happened in any other case in the NFL, ever?

Rice won his appeal after two months of being indefinitely suspended from the NFL after, the Ravens cut him from the team when video surfaced this summer of him punching his wife Janay Rice in an elevator.
