Since 1987 our country has acknowledged October as Domestic Violence Awareness month.  Moshay Laren and the Love Yourself Campaign are organizing a series of powerful events to bring awareness and healing to this emotionally disturbing and sometimes fatal cancer in our society. The first event is the Man Up rally in Love Park on Saturday October 19th in Love Park from 3pm to 6pm. “Men from all over Philadelphia will come together to rally against domestic violence. Some of the community’s most notable  religious and community leaders, politicians, and professional athletes will support one another in taking a stand against domestic violence.” Some of the special appearances include District Attorney Seth Williams, Senator Vincent Hughes, Fox 29’s Mike Jerrick, and  a performance by Philadelphia Youth Poetry Movement founder “Just Greg” Corbin.

The following week, on October 26th,  Ms. Laren will mount her second annual stage production Voices of Domestic Violence which features music, dance and monologues that tell the gripping stories of domestic violence from the perspective of the abused and the abuser. This production features KeKe Wyatt, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Tobi Gadison, Philadanco, Carol Riddick and me, Tiffany Bacon, as an actor and director.
