Former Philadelphia Eagles stars Terrell Owens and Jevon Kearse may have invested in a casino, a possible violation of NFL rules.

Yahoo! Sports broke the story on Thursday that Owens was one of a group of current and former NFL players who invested in some $20 million in Country Crossing casino in Dothan, Ala.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello confirmed the investigation into the players on Friday.

Kearse is now retired from the NFL and can’t be sanctioned by the league.

But Owens and some other big-name players could face fines and suspensions, or be forced to give up their investments at a possible loss.

Yahoo! Sports said Owens, Santonio Holmes, Santana Moss, Gerard Warren and Adalius Thomas were among the investors.

Country Crossing owner Ronnie Gilley and two of his lobbyists have pleaded guilty to offering legislators millions in bribes.
