Politicians don’t usually experience the real city of Camden, New Jersey. Instead of witnessing the systemic failure of this American city, they are treated to facades of progress like the Waterfront. There is no discussion on how to alleviate the culture of crime, the deteriorating roads, the abandoned homes, the failures in education and government, and the myriad of other problems that has made the city known for urban dysfunction.
We want President Obama and his administration to see what everyday residents in Camden are up against – and to remedy the situation by providing the resources the city needs, as well as holding accountable those responsible for these enormous failures.
