In the fall of 2000, music brought drummer and producer, Marcus Baylor (Cassandra Wilson and Grammy Award winning Yellowjackets) and Jean together as they quickly discovered their greatest common interest as a writing and production team, The Baylors.
Their first collaborative effort resulted in Jean’s first solo CD “Testimony: my life story.” This project exampled not only their collective creativity but it was released on and coincided with the launch of their independently owned imprint, “Be A Light” in 2007. The pair introduced their production initiative as The Baylors in 2011, completing Jean’s second solo CD “Light Up The World,” released Thanksgiving Day, also on Be A Light.
With a collection of luxuriant and feel-good inspirational songs — relatable to life’s ups, downs and changing discourse — Baylor has dedicated her gift to touching the lives of others. Her honest approach to song is lithe and caressing providing a sea of meditative freedom.
Baylor exclaims, “My hope is that these songs will encourage the spirit of giving, love and sincere regard for others.”
