An apartment fire in the Tacony section of the city left two teenagers dead this morning. The fire started around 5 a.m. when an apartment building caught a blaze on the 6800 block of Torresdale Avenue.

The two teens, a 13-year-old boy and his 19-year-old sister couldn’t escape the flames and smoke trapped them inside. Firefighters were able to rescue the teenager’s mother, who was rushed to Frankford-Torresdale Hospital where she is in very critical condition.

According to officials, the fire allegedly started in a barbershop, which occupied the first floor of the complex.
