Writing since the age of 6, Naila Mattison-Jones is nothing, if not a lover of words. Driven by the ability of words to effectively move people, Naila started performing her poetry in the mid 1990’s surrounded by some of Philadelphia’s hottest hip hop artists. “I loved that time in poetic history, because it forced you to stretch yourself as far as you could go to create your own lyrical space.” Naila is the founder of Soul Survivors, a non profit organization that raises funds for individuals battling cancer through showcases, featuring up and coming artists of all genres. Naila is a graduate of Temple University. She has worked for a major online rich media provider as a Senior Campaign Manager for six years. Recent endeavors include Soul Survivors, Marketing Director for Celebration of Black Writing (Black Writer’s Museum), Project Manager of Love Letters (Mural Arts Program of Philadelphia).
