Drunk 4-year-old tries to steal Christmas gifts
A 4-year-old from Chattanooga, TN apparently broke into a neighbor’s home to steal their Christmas presents after drinking beer.According to his mother, 21-year-old April Wright, the boy’s actions were an attempt to “get in trouble so he can go to jail because that’s where his daddy is.” April said she is currently in the midst of divorce proceedings with her husband.
Apparently, the course of events on this particular evening began around 1:45 AM, when the child broke into a cooler in the house to get the beer and then broke the protective device keeping him from getting out of the house. From there, he first rang the doorbell and greeted the occupants of a house down the street, and then went down to another house and entered through an unlocked door.
Once inside, the 4 year old boy stole 5 unopened Christmas gifts, including a brown dress.The first neighbors called the police and when they arrived on the scene, they saw the child stumbling down the street with a nearly empty can of beer in his hand, and wearing the dress that he stole. He was rushed to the hospital and had his stomach pumped to remove the alcohol from his system.
Authorities do not plan on charging the boy with any crime.
April apparently met with child protective services today, and was told she would be allowed to retain custody of her son.
