Kenneth Stewart, 23, of Glenolden, Pa was arrested after bringing a fully loaded TEC-9 gun into an Upper Darby police station demanding the release of his girlfriend who was arrested for public drunkenness.

According to officials, Stewart walked into the station early Saturday morning to get his girlfriend out of jail. Police told Stewart she would not be released, when Stewart went to his car and came back inside the lobby with a fully loaded TEC-9 gun in his waistband.

Authorities say Stewart held up the Police in the lobby and began punching a kicking police, causing them to hit the deck. Eventually an officer was able to wrestle the gun from Stewart before any police were injured. His girlfriend told police that he had come to the station to “kill a cop.

“Two officers were fighting for their lives,” said Upper Darby Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood. “It was kind of like a mortal combat situation.”
